REQUIREMENTS

 

The successful candidate must have a strong combination of:
• Engineering leadership
• Manufacturing engineering exposure
• Maintenance and reliability leadership
Toolroom and / or machining environment exposure
Precision or high-volume manufacturing experience
• Strong systems and technical governance capability

The role leads Engineering, Maintenance and the Toolroom and requires someone who understands how product engineering, manufacturing processes, reliability, asset care, and production support integrate on the factory floor.

Applicants who will not be considered:

  • Too focused on operations – not engineering-led
    • Maintenance-only backgrounds without manufacturing engineering depth
    • Strong production leadership but limited engineering systems capability
    • Corporate engineering profiles disconnected from factory-floor execution
    • Limited exposure to machining, assembly, precision manufacturing or toolroom environments
    • Technical engineers without senior leadership maturity
    • FMCG/process manufacturing candidates without discrete manufacturing exposure
    • Candidates lacking structured engineering governance capability

Applicants with only Project and Design Engineering background cannot be considered

 

Main requirements:

  • BEng or BTech in Mechanical Engineering or related field
    10 to 15 years manufacturing experience
    • At least 5 years in senior engineering leadership roles
    • Have led engineering managers, maintenance managers, and technical teams
    • Understand engineering systems, BOM governance, manufacturing support, reliability, and CAPEX
    • Have worked in machining, fabrication, assembly, precision engineering, automotive, defence, or similar manufacturing environments
    • Are comfortable operating in high-accountability environments
    • Demonstrate practical leadership and strong ownership
    • Are technically credible and comfortable on the factory floor

 

Advantageous:
• GCC
• SAP exposure
• Experience in globally competitive manufacturing environments

This role would suit someone coming from environments such as:
• Automotive manufacturing
• Defence manufacturing
• Precision engineering
• Heavy fabrication
• Industrial equipment manufacturing
• Engineered products manufacturing

 

This role is not suited to:
• Pure plant/operations managers
• Utilities or facilities-only engineering leaders
• FMCG-only operational leaders
• Project managers without manufacturing leadership depth
• Technical specialists without leadership scale
• Maintenance managers without broader engineering governance experience

 

Duties   

 

Engineering

  • Ensure that all Product Master Data is accurate to facilitate cost effective and the reliable manufacture of products.
  • Ensure that production processes comply to industry standards and group requirements
  • Facilitate the creation of innovative programs to improve throughput or reduce cost
  • Manufacturing support

 

Maintenance / Toolroom

  • Appointed as the Competent Person for Supervisor of Machinery (GMR 2.1)
  • Full management responsibility and oversight of maintenance department
  • Continuous drive to improve with Preventative Maintenance toward TPM
  • Full management responsibility and oversight of the Toolroom

Engineering

  • Liaise with local and international customers to ensure to ensure their requirements are met.
  • Lead the teams to meet the requirements of the business, introducing and implementing Engineering best practise
  • Support manufacturing and where necessary assist in the development of production processes
  • Collaborate with the Quality department to ensure that quality standards are achievable and realistic
  • Responsible for configuration management
  • Overall responsibility for the Master data management in the ERP system (SAP) – BOM, Etc.
  • Lead the process in technical investigations internally and with the customer
  • CAPEX proposals to improve production capacity supported through cost saving initiatives
  • Lead projects with the department

Maintenance & Toolroom

  • Encouraging and enforcing a safe working culture
  • Maintenance and Toolroom oversight and support
  • Ensure the service level of the maintenance department supports the manufacturing department
  • Drive preventative maintenance throughout the company
  • Ensure the service level of the Toolroom meets the requirements of the manufacturing department
  • Developing preventative system to ensure the availability of press tools for manufacturing
  • Lead projects with the area and drive for closure
